Frappato

Nimble and tough, since 3000 B.C. the donkey was used as a work animal and of burden to transport food, people and goods. Known for its great resistance, agility and innate docility, this animal has always been a great ally to man to carry out the most strenuous jobs, even on the hardest and irksome terrains. Loyal and obedient companion, in the countryside farmers used the donkey for riding, for agricultural work, for pulling wagons, but even for activating windmills and mallets.

Frappato is one of the most ancient and important red varieties in Sicily. Its name in the local dialect means fruity, underlining its main characteristic. The bunches are compact of medium size, with dark blue grapes. Its grapes produce light, aromatic wines with a lively colour and fresh taste.
